Ways to raise money, exciting jobs, alternative funds launching, new ownership models

Hi! I’m Esme, founder of Atmos. After a 3 month hiatus, I’m back with a new newsletter. Same format, different name. We talk about alternative funding, shared ownership, and building in a better way. I’ll try and always make this the best thing you read on the last Sunday of the month.

Last week, Emma Shaw, Co-founder of Library of Things shared an incredible story, the real ‘how-to guide for social enterprises pursuing purpose over profit. You rarely see examples of UK companies raising patient, flexible, and mission-aligned capital. Even rarer is to find one that embeds purpose into its very design with a Steward Ownership governance model. BUT Library of Things did it. They raised £500K from 22 individuals and 1 institution that said yes to a radical investment agreement.

How to raise funding when your purpose is greater than profit? This was our challenge when we set out to raise £500k+ for social enterprise, @libraryofthings. And here's how we did it: em-shaw.medium.com/investing-in-o… #socialenterprise #investment #funding #women #founders

Seven months ago, I launched a course with Impact Shakers on How to raise Alternative Funding. I knew that I wasn’t the only one who had struggled to fundraise and find aligned capital. We’ve run two cohorts so far and helped over 40 founders figure out their fundraising strategy. So, I thought it was about time to tackle another hard but big topic that people constantly ask me about - How to build in Governance and Ownership.

In the same spirit as the Alternative funding course, I’ve partnered with another great team, Consequential and the wonderful Zebras Unite to run a brand new course at an affordable price to see what interest there is in this topic. We launched last week and 1/3 of the seats are already filled.

If you have a business or an idea and are excited about building it with impact, but are looking for clarity over what options, models, and practices are right for you then this is the only course out there that can help you figure it all out.
